What do YOU want to see here?

I’m going to be completely honest with you guys. I’m struggling with the direction of Wicked Whimsy, pretty hardcore – I’m a little burnt out on style and fashion related writing, although I’m still interested in it personally…I just feel like I have nothing interesting to say about it right now. But I’m not sure I want to entirely change the content of the blog, just because I feel like I’d be cheating everyone who signed up for a mostly fashion and personal style blog!

I feel like WW has suffered, probably pretty obviously, because I don’t know what to write about or what you want to read. Some of the topics I’ve considered is more posts on cultural appropriation, things in the media (television and comics/novels), business, religion, spirituality, and more – but I know some of these are hot button issues, which means I could very well get twitchy about writing them, let alone having responses to them. So please, if you would in the comments, let me know what it is you want to read about right now or would like to see more posts on. If for some reason you don’t want to leave a comment, you can fill out an anonymous survey here. I very much appreciate your input as a reader – thank you so much!

I’m a really new reader, so I actually don’t know what you were doing before, but I love the sound of the posts on difficult subjects. I really like posts that are quite coherent and thought through, rather than stream of consciousness type things.

Best of luck in finding the way forward! It’s so hard to find the right thing.

Perhaps I’m too easily pleased, but honestly, I’m happy with ANYTHING that you write! Daily outfits? Fantastic. Style commentary? Brilliant. Anything else that takes your fancy? SUPERB! Honestly, one thing I learned with creating Frock & Roll is that it’s okay to change your mind. It’s okay to write about different things all the time. It’s okay to find your feet!

Good luck, and I know that at least personally, I’ll still love anything that you write!

I want to read what you want to write about. It’s your blog so make it what you want it to be. We’re always in a state of flux, so your blog shouldn’t either. =D

Thank you for all of the input, everyone! I REALLY appreciate it. Hugs to you all!! <3

I have only been a follower in the last few months but the thing that grabbed me about your blog is your unique voice, which I find to be a lot stronger and less afraid to tackle issues. I was especially impressed with your post on tattoos and had to share your thoughts with many a tattooed friend and tattoo artist friends. I love the variety of links you bring each week because they are always so well-balanced between heavy and light topics. I think you should not be afraid of the responses you’ll get from tackling more heavy issues–there are not enough alternative writers, not enough fearless opinions for women on womens issues, especially concerning fashion/the beauty myth, and I for one am a reader hungry for both the controversial opinions and the reader responses they generate, both good and bad. Maybe stop wondering what we want to read and just focus on what your heart wants to express, and you’ll find that though you *may* piss-off *some* readers, you’ll find a lot more readers will admire you for your daring. A mentor of mine once warned me, “once you start creating for what will sell rather than what your heart wants, you will lose your way.” It’s ok to let your blog change and grow as you change and grow; we read it because of *you* not just the topics you write about! :)

Hexotica: I tried to send you an email, because I wanted to thank you personally for your comment, but it got sent back. But really, thank you for leaving such a kind and long comment – I had a pretty crappy day yesterday and this definitely brightened it some!! <3

I feel this way with my blog quite often, which is why I can only stick to 3 regular weekly topics :P Otherwise it’s all a jumble of my interests or whatever strikes me fancy at the moment.
Personally, I like it when you address issues that are important to you. I can tell you are passionate and genuinely interested in them so that makes me interested in them and wanting to learn more. Anyway, I agree with Hexotica – follow your heart. I’m here for you and your unique voice :D
