About Wicked Whimsy

Wicked Whimsy. To me, that says everything there is to know about me, what I’m about, and how I do things. It’s my style statement – so not only does it guide my visible style choices, but it permeates every area of my life, inner & outer, visible & not.

But it might not be as evident to you, so I’ll explain.

So – wicked. What does that mean?

adjective. evil or morally bad in principle or practice; sinful; iniquitous

Uhh. Not quite. Here’s what wicked means to me:

a sharp edge. clever. mischievous.

And here’s a place where Webster & I agree:

Slang. wonderful, great, masterful, deeply satisfying.

Now: whimsy. The dictionary is of use here:

noun. anything odd or fanciful; a product of playful or capricious fantasy

Wicked Whimsy. Together, you have:

The juxtaposition of complimentary but seemingly antagonistic things. Like sea salt and fine chocolate. A tutu with combat boots. Hard edges and a soft center. A bundle of contradictions. A study in perfect imbalance.

edgy femininity. adroit impulsiveness. intelligent extravagance. sweetness with a dash of snark. intricate wit. brilliant mischief. a satisfying fantasy.

someone who builds a castle in the sky & then gets a strong foundation under that sucker.

That’s what I’m about, in every area of my life.

And now you might be saying, that’s fabulous, Michelle, but how does it apply to me?

Thanks for asking. Here’s how the idea of wicked whimsy applies to you:

To live a whole, aligned life, you’ll have to accept – nay, love, cherish, celebrate – that there are parts about it, and you, that are seemingly contradictory to the casual observer but are in actuality working together to create the whole picture of the awesomeness that is you.

“Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.”

- Walt Whitman

It’s okay. Evenness is boring. The uneven, jagged, contradictory places are the most interesting (& fun) places to be.
